A global initiative for women in economics.

IEA-WE team

Strengthening women's participation and influence.

The International Economic Association launched IEA-WE as a multi-year global initiative to strengthen the presence and influence of women in economics.

Through research, collaboration and advocacy, we work to expand the pipeline of women economists, address structural barriers to advancement, and amplify women's voices in economic discourse, with particular attention to inequalities shaped by geography, race and ethnicity.

Led by Ashwini Deshpande, the team includes María Inés Berniell, Raquel Fernández, Dani Rodrik, and Fiona Tregenna. IEA-WE works across Asia, Africa, and Latin America and the Caribbean.

A global network of economists committed to change.

IEA-WE brings together leading economists, researchers and institutions working across regions to advance women's participation and influence in economics.
